Motor Industries Customs Brokers provide a range of services
Motor Industry Customs Brokers (MICB) specialise in all aspects of the Automotive Production Development Programme (APDP) and have received numerous awards over the past eight years.
Danie van Rensburg, a director at MICB, has, since 1974, been dealing with all aspects of the Customs Import and Export Regulations and the South African Local Content Programmes. His knowledge of and reputation in the industry is exemplary.
“We’ve been successful because we do our utmost to fulfil our customer’s expectations and to provide a superior service,” he tells Business Link magazine.
Jaco Minnie, also a director, is a qualified accountant, who specialises in the APDP; SARS Customs and the International Trade Administration Commission (ITAC) policies and procedures.
“Thanks to the combination of our skills, experience and knowledge we are able to offer a dynamic service to all of South Africa’s Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) as well as all Component suppliers and to all of our clients,” he says.
The range of services offered by MICB is extensive and includes Customs Duty recoveries which they offer on a “no cure, no fee” basis; formulation and preparation of Duty Drawback Applications in terms of the 5th Schedule of the Customs and Excise Act; Formulation and preparation of the imported component value declaration on the Form C1; formulation and preparation of the Standard and Non-Standard Material Declarations and the co-ordination of their services with their clients external auditors.
When it comes to Production Incentive Applications, MICB can assist with the formulation and preparation of these documents and successfully liaise with ITAC.
“From a financial point of view we have a four week average Duty Drawback claim settlement with our remuneration based on an agreed percentage. We also have a reasonable monthly fee for the APDP and we give full transparency,” says Jaco.
MICB has a diverse list of clients and Danie adds, “We have gained invaluable experience and a comprehensive knowledge of the industry including tier one manufacturers of interior trim, emission systems, electrical parts, fuel tanks and lines and braking systems.”
They can also assist with SARS Customs Regulations, tariff revisions, ITAC registrations and permit applications, COSM/ MITTAL Incentives and AIS Applications. Recently, they added Foreign Exchange services for importers and exporters, in conjunction with a local bank.
New directors, Allan Corbett and Jeanique van der Mescht, also recently joined the
company bringing in new skills and expertise. Jeanique has 11 years’ experience in the APDP and customs duty drawback claims. In 2014, she was in the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber’s Top 40 under 40.
Allan has been involved in the Cross Border Trade environment for over 30 years now and as a past Chairman of the Eastern Cape Exporters club.
